Do you have any plans to provide a link on your website/blog of the showing schedule for your recent film? I'm Boston-based and would love to see it - will it be showing anywhere in the New England area anytime soon? Thanks!

I'm sorry that you were abused.

A similar thing happened to someone that I know while she was gassing up her car. Instead of spitting, this guy punched her in the face. He didn't know or think she was a lesbian. She was just a woman not interested in his advances. All the black males at the service station saw it and did nothing. Said nothing. They didn't even ask her if she was OK. It seems it has become something regular for black women to get beat down in the streets with no help from the men watching. There is something seriously wrong that needs to be fixed. And truthfully, only black men can fix it.

I think the pivotal point that is being overlooked is the fact that we as a community have to do better.
We must hold our men to fulfill thier parental and financial obligations towards their children. We are so used to just calling it quits and picking up the slack to ensure our children have everything they need and most of the things they want while all the while ignoring the fact that none of us are virgin marys and our children are not products of immaculate conception.
I read the site Fadia started and concluded that while she has highlighted an often neglected topic of the black community, her moderation of the sites post turn the site into a joke.
Yes we as women have to acknowledge our role in this great societal ill. Some of us know, myself included, that we have chosen a man that may not be the best parent. In no way must we excuse them. A single parent household may be filled with love however, it will always be lacking. We will always not have as much as a two family household (with comparable standings) and while we as single mothers or fathers will work to pick up the slack our children will continue to reep the shortcomings of our mistakes. Whether or not you planned to have your child(ren), they are no longer mistakes once you make the decision to have the child and as a responsible parent you will work to ensure your child has every adavantage in life and that includes having both parents. I try to be superwoman and make up for the absence of my son's father. I can not. His father has to step up and take that role. I did not bring myself to the brink of orgasm and I will no longer assume the dual role of mother and father.

As a community we need to support our young parents because in everyway thesd children are our future. Our presidential candidate was reared in a single family household but he had the community behind him. We need to encourage our men to do better. It is a sad fact that i am using teh word encourage.

I was just blog surfing and I came across your. I am slightly ignorant to Black homosexuality and transgender and I commend you for shedding light on something that is not widely talked about and most times hated on. Good luck from a future film maker to an established one!

I just got back home from the police department. I had to file a report because I had been assaulted by a group of 4 black guys. I walked past and said nothing, they just wanted to fight apparently. I live in a small town of 3,000 nowhere near a city.

It was racially motivated - they said so. You're going to sit here and try to explain 'acting like a nigger' with academic critiques. A lot of good that does to my real world physical injuries. There are black people out there committing murder - not in an abstract way - a real way. To just try and turn it around and explain it away because of the white patriarchy is bullshit - plain and simple.

[...] Even after having it explained, even after having a minor epiphany about it this week, that scene still does not make me cringe. It doesn’t bring up a lifetime of experience, because there’s nothing really relevant to bring up. It doesn’t resonate at gut-level. But I don’t think that’s the important thing. The important thing is knowing that just because it doesn’t, doesn’t make it okay. And when someone makes another post saying, “I have a problem with this”, the important thing is to take that little voice in my head that’s saying, “But I don’t see a problem!” and tell it to go play in the corner while I listen, and reflect, and remind myself that my reaction isn’t the only possible reaction, and isn’t more important, more worthy, or more relevant than anyone else’s.
