Wow, I just found this blog and even though it's old and I doubt you'll even find this comment lurking here, this post just spoke to me in ways I never expected. I thought I was the only person fed up with the iron fist of modern feminism. Shit, I hope you keep goin' strong, cause it would just be too depressing for the one other voice I agree with to quit.

While waiting for my file to upload, I happend upon your blogsite and read a little about the controversy that contributed to your hiatus. May I say that [as a slightly older, very well-educated, attractive, and successful black female] it has been my experience that the ONLY way most people know how to respond to people like us is with negativity. I've travelled and read extensively and find great irony in the fact that contrary to most arrogant opinions about the "superior" treatment of women in America, this is one of the ONLY countries left in Western Civilization that hasn't elected a female to the top office! Hell, even African countries (Liberia) and Pakistan and India have beat us. I say this to emphasize that most people in America [this includes many women] still do not know how to take a woman with an opinion, much less a woman who voices her opinion....But that's their problem...there are many interested in hearing what you have to say, even those who don't agree with you. You should take the negative comments as flattery - you hit some nerves...GOOD! Hopefully this message is moot, and you've already started blogging again...but just in case - keep writing, girl!

I know I'm all late but I'm glad I came by ur post. There's no question about it- u asked them u take the thing down and they didn't.. Apparently they are choosing some man-made code of ethics in journalism over solidarity which goes to show what happens when people gain access.. But anywho, I can't wait to hear what you produce- film, written work, something! I'll be a certified teacher in a year and I wanna use ur work as part of my curriculum...
Keep on tearin it up baby!

In spite of how many people miss you, I think it's safe to say that it'd be hot as hell if you came back with a "Dr." Blackademic and that's real ...

Henrystu,

for what it’s worth. Nubian, Jessica, Celinia, Samhita, and many (if not all of you/us) are aiming for the same thing, aren’t we? A better, safer, happier world.

Uh, no. As a matter of fact, we are not all aiming for the same thing. If we were, you wouldn't see people like Jessica, Celina, and Samhita (Et tu Brutae?) supporting the subjugation and degradation of women of color. What you call "negative, useless, divisive battling", I call pointing out the the truth about folks like the Feministing troupe who claim to loooove women of color but prove otherwise with every step they take.

Nubian never went to war with Feministing. Instead, the Feministing folks have shown themselves to be hostile to women of color. If Jessica et al want to start showing some solidarity with the women of color in the blogosphere and beyond, then that's great. Let 'em do so. However, if they aren't willing to do that, then we have no reason to pretend as if what they do is just a-okay with us.

The enemy of my enemy is not my friend.
